Dear parents and carers,
Today is an unusual one in a school sense with students now at home starting holidays early due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the need for social distancing.
I understand this is another change for families to cope with in an uncertain world at the moment.
For families of essential services workers we can offer some supervision of children here at school if you require it this week. Please contact us if you need that assistance.
Our staff have been busy preparing to deliver remote learning should the need arise beyond the holiday period. Work continues this week to enable us to connect with students and provide continuity of learning in the event that we are instructed to keep the school closed following the holidays.
This will be delivered via the internet, or in some cases through hard copy materials being distributed. If you do not have internet access, please contact us to make arrangements for work to be delivered to your child. We are aware of a small number of cases where this will be required. User guides are being prepared to help students with the required steps to access everything they require online.
Our IT team has distributed their contact details to students and staff.
In the event of remote learning, students will be informed about due dates and assessment of that work by individual teachers. Work will primarily be loaded into the student’s class teams.
We are aware that teachers and students may be required to look after children or siblings and may also be required to help out around the house.
With this in mind, we have ensured that our remote learning platform remains flexible. Our aim is to ensure learning continues but not to place extra pressure on students, teachers or their families.
As time progresses and more restrictions are put in place, financial pressure may be felt by many of our families. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if this pandemic causes you financial hardship.
We are committed to supporting our students and their families in any way we can, so please contact us if you have any concerns.
We will continue to post updates to our website and any urgent communications will be via text and email. Brief updates will appear on our facebook page.
Kind Regards
Paul Clohesy, Principal
