Dear parents and carers,
Today the Premier, Daniel Andrews, announced an extension to the state-wide lockdown through until midnight on Tuesday, July 27 to combat the latest COVID-19 outbreak in Victoria.
We will continue to provide remote learning until next Tuesday and aim to return to the classrooms on Wednesday, July 28.
The full guidelines for how we operate on the return to school are yet to be announced and we will pass those on when they become available.
Given the extension of the lockdown, we have had to postpone Friday night’s Senior Ball and hope to set a new date for later this Term.
We have also postponed the College Production of “We Will Rock You”, which was due to start on July 28. The Production, in its current planned format, will not be possible next week. Further announcements will be made as soon as possible regarding the Production once we receive updated health advice. Online ticket sales remain paused for the Production.
Subject selection information is being shared this week for our Year 9, 10 and 11 students. This information will be released in the form of videos, so we encourage you to view the material and discuss with your children their subject selection for 2022. Subject interviews for Year 10 students will be held online and students have received this link via Teams. Feel free to make contact with us if you have questions or require help.
The General Assessment Task (GAT) for VCE Unit 3/4 students was to be held on Thursday, July 29 and is a student free day for anyone not sitting the GAT. We will update you if any changes are announced for the GAT, which may affect the student free day.
A reminder also that the student free day in the calendar for August 5 is now a normal school day.
For now, we will maintain our focus on delivering remote learning. Please encourage your sons or daughters to connect with their classes, reach out to their teachers or Year Level Co-ordinators and to minimise distractions.
All students are required to log in to their homeroom meetings each morning via Teams to get further instructions for the day.
Students are expected to log in to every class via Teams at the scheduled times for each lesson to get directions for the class from their teachers. Teachers will offer a mix of ‘real time’ learning and ‘any time’ learning tasks to be completed. Some lessons will not require attendance for the full hour, but students must attend the start of each class for their attendance to be recorded. It is also expected that students have their cameras switched on and participate for the duration of the teaching lesson.
Your contact points with the College remain the same. You can email Year Level Coordinators, homeroom teachers and subject teachers with your queries. You can also contact the school on 52339200 should you have any further enquiries.
Essential services workers with no other care options for their children, and households without internet access, should email principal@tcc.vic.edu.au with requests for care here at school.
This supervision will be offered on a needs basis, with students accessing their classes online in a supervised room. These students will be required to attend school for the full school day in their correct school uniform and will be required to wear a mask. Normal bus services will be in operation and masks are mandatory on buses.
As further information becomes available, we will distribute details via email, on our website, through Facebook and in short text messages. This is an evolving situation so we will advise of any significant changes.
Yours sincerely,
Paul Clohesy, Principal
