Foundation for Secondary School
Year 7 is a foundation year for secondary school students. All Year 7 students will study the same CORE units over two semesters. These core subjects will be taught in the students’ homeroom groups to allow for a smoother transition from primary schooling.
The period allocations for the core subjects, within the ten-day cycle are listed in the table.
Additionally, Year 7 students will study all the ELECTIVE units. Students will rotate their elective classes throughout the year so they get to sample each learning area. Each elective consists of 11 periods in the College’s ten-day cycle.
Camp
The Year 7 camp generally takes place in Week 2 of the year. Students and teachers venture down to ‘Kangaroobie’ in Princetown and involve themselves in a myriad of activities. This assists students in the various Homeroom groups to get to know each other better. Students participate in a range of activities such as canoeing, navigation of a wet and wild obstacle course, low ropes courses and a survivor game.
